HPD posts media booking report PDFs for people arrested and charged within a 48-hour period. Those PDFs can show the arrest time, release time if known, name, demographics, report number, OTN, charge codes, bail set, bail posted, release description, and court code or date. They are useful, but they are not a live custody roster.

The custody side moves to DCR when a person is held at Hawaii Community Correctional Center or another state correctional facility. HPD's own inmate information page points users to Hawaii VINELink for jail and prison inmates, while also warning that VINELink does not apply to suspects still held in a police cellblock before court processing. That distinction is the key to Hawaii County inmate records: HPD shows the recent arrest report, DCR holds the jail custody status, and the Hawaii Judiciary tracks the formal court case after filing.

That page matters because it prevents a common mistake: searching only Hawaii SAVIN when the person has not yet moved from police processing into DCR custody.

The first online step for a new Hawaii County arrest is the HPD media booking report. Open the booking logs page and choose the newest PDF if the arrest happened in the last day or two. Use the browser or PDF find tool for the person's last name. If the name appears, read the entry carefully rather than treating it as a current inmate profile. The entry may show a release time, a court transfer, a bail field, or no release line at all.

1. Open the HPD booking logs page and select the newest media booking report PDF.
2. Search the PDF by last name, then compare first name, age, and location before assuming a match.
3. Save the report number, OTN, charge code, bail field, release description, and court code or date.
4. Call the Hilo or Kona cellblock if the arrest is still very recent and custody status is the main question.
5. Search eCourt Kokua later when formal court records after the arrest have been filed.

The OTN is especially useful because the Hawaii Judiciary eCourt Kokua manual lists OTN as a case-search field. A person may appear more than once in a 48-hour report because HPD says timing of arrest and charging can cause repeat entries. The booking log is preliminary, and HPD states that all parties are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

HCCC Visitation Hours and Rules

HCCC visitation is divided by housing or legal status, and the official schedule says visits are no-contact. Inmates are allowed a maximum of one visit per week, visitors must arrive 15 minutes early, and operational needs can change hours. HCCC also states that visitors may not park in the facility parking lot except limited ADA visitors.
